How to merge PDF files into one document
Sending five separate PDFs to a client, a university or a government office looks messy, and many online forms accept only one file. Merging PDFs solves both problems: you get one tidy document with the pages in exactly the order you choose.
This guide shows the fastest free way to combine PDF files, plus a few habits that save you trouble later.
Merge PDFs in your browser in four steps
- Open the Merge PDF tool.
- Drag your PDF files onto the page, or click to choose them. You can add as many as you need.
- Drag the files into the order you want. The first file becomes the first pages of the result.
- Click Merge and download the combined PDF.
Because the files are processed inside your browser, they are not uploaded to a server. That matters when you are combining contracts, ID copies, invoices or medical papers.
Before you merge: a quick checklist
- Name your files with numbers (01-cover.pdf, 02-invoice.pdf) so the order is obvious.
- Rotate any sideways pages first, so the final document reads the right way up.
- Remove pages you do not need, such as blank scans or duplicate covers.
- If a file is password protected, remove the password in the program that created it before merging.

The merged file is too big?
