About Get PDF Online

Get PDF Online is a small set of free PDF tools that run in your browser. I'm Saima Younas, a web developer in Pakistan. I built the site and I look after it.

Why I made it

Many free PDF sites ask you to upload your file to their server, make you wait, and then push a subscription or a watermark. For a contract, an ID card or an invoice, that never felt right to me. I wanted tools where you open a page, drop a file in and get the result, with nothing leaving your device.

How it works

The tools use open-source libraries, mainly pdf-lib and PDF.js, that run inside your browser. Your device does the work, so the file is never uploaded. If you doubt it, open a tool, switch your internet off and run it. It still works.

What you can do here

Merge, split, compress, rotate, add page numbers, watermark, protect with a password, remove pages, turn JPG into PDF and back, and make scanned PDFs searchable with OCR. The site is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Urdu, Hindi and Arabic. Some translations are still being reviewed, so please tell me if you spot a mistake.

How the site pays for itself

Hosting costs money, so the site shows ads from Google AdSense. The tools are free to use, with no account needed. The ads never get access to your files.

How the guides are written

The guides describe steps that were tried in these tools, and they say where a tool has limits. For example, the stronger compression levels turn pages into images, so the text can no longer be selected. If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, email me and I will fix it.
